Growing in the midst of pain

Group Therapy Series- Post Traumatic Growth with Nature and EMDR

  • Week 1

During this first week, we will utilize an EMDR group protocol intervention that involves art work, journaling, and reflection in order to counter the negative stories that we have adopted from the trauma we’ve experienced.

  • Week 2

We will learn 2 nature based grounding exercises as well how our nervous systems and bodies are impacted by trauma. We will explore what new insights we have gained as a result of the painful experience that we’ve gone through. We will identify and strengthen mental anchors that assist us in feeling strong when we are facing difficult moments in our lives.

  • Week 3

While we continue to explore questions that promote post traumatic growth, we will also learn to connect with our allies in nature and expand our perspectives through the lessons they have to teach. We will lean into the concept and practice of savoring, as a way to reconnect with present moment joy in order to counter the trauma held in our bodies. We will learn an EMDR skill that assists with diminishing current stress as it arises in our lives.

  • Week 4

We will continue to strengthen nature based connection as a source for grounding during difficult times, specifically focused on how our sense of awe can shift our mood and perspective. We will learn to use an EMDR strategy in which we envision ourselves capable of moving through future triggers and painful situations.
